An Airbrush Spray Tanning Party!  What a great idea!  We’ll invite ladies, we’ll have drinks, appetizers and at the same time, we’ll get tanned!  It all came together without one hitch!  

There was plenty of room for the tent and exhaust fan with the sheet laid down below to protect the carpet.  Who is ready? She jumped up and was ready with no qualms.  In the tent I tanned her face with Norvel dark solution with  added Bronzer.  I followed my normal routine, blending as I needed to and following each muscle, I sculpted like an artist.  In ten minutes, we were finished. Normally it takes about eight to ten minutes to dry but we used the blow dryer to be sure.  Beautiful!  

Between each lady, I cleaned the tent floor and started the process again.  Each time the beauty of every woman showed while their instant “just off the beach” tan was exposed.

Every woman began with a different skin tone, a different body shape, different color of hair.  But they had one thing in common.  They were friends who were comfortable with one another and in their own skin.  The topics of conversation were biking, jogging, family and the one thing they all have in common…dancing.

MARTINIS AND MAKEUP MAGIC

The Martini and Makeup Magic event was fast approaching.  I had never hosted anything like this before.  I checked and double checked my bag, cleanser, toner, Vitamin C crystals, make-up, blush, bronzer, makeup brushes, it was all there. What if the lighting wasn’t right?  My sons helped me with that.  We used a hand-held mirror and attached two tap lights in each corner.  Everything was in place.

One by one, everyone arrived,  friends,  family,  people I had never met, they were all there.   Wow!  This is a great turnout!   It was time to make Martinis, Makeup and Magic work together!

Time to choose my first makeover.  I chose a young girl who came with her mother.  She was sitting at the bar drinking a “virgin” martini.  I cleansed her face and then spritzed her skin with a refreshing Corrective Toner.  As soon as her skin was dry, I chose the appropriate KSS mineral foundation for her skin tone using a 100% synthetic flat head brush.  I then applied Shine blusher/bronzer to the apples of her cheeks.  Waa Laa!  My first makeover of the evening was done!   This was going to be fun!

As I began moving around the room to do a color match for the hand crafted foundation and following up with the makeover, the magician was entertaining the rest of the crowd.  Special interest was added to the evening when I gave away a make-up brush to a gentleman who won it in a drawing. Women were loving their makeovers!  The next thing I knew, ladies were waiting to sit in the chair to experience the dramatic and immediate difference to their skin.  I no longer moved around the room.  They were coming to me!

At the end of the evening I smiled with content.  My launch was a success!  Martinis, Makeup and Magic!

MARTINI AND MAKE-UP MAGIC EVENT

So by now you have all received your invites to the Martini and Make-Up Magic Event and you are wondering what to expect. GOOD MORNING SLEEPING BEAUTY

When I would sleep in late as a teenager my mom would say “Good Morning Sleeping Beauty”!

Little did I know when I was in my fifties how true that statement would be!  Your body doesn’t have to work at skin protection overnight.  Instead  it can focus on repairing the damage done throughout the day.   Products will be more effective at hydrating, reducng fine lines and wrinkles and brightening.  Therefore, your night time routine along with product selection is very important.

I’M BLUSHING

Make people wonder what you’ve been up to!  Did you know the original intent of blush was to make yourself look as though you were in love? 

Using the correct color of blush for your skin tone is very important.   If your complexion is fair and rosy, use cool, blue toned pink.  A blush with warm honey or peach tone complements olive skin with  golden undertones. Choose deep rich wine and burgandies for darker skin.

Put your blush on the apple of your cheeks.  You can find them by smiling big.  The apple of your cheeks are the part of your cheeks that go up when you smile (under your eyes).

Note, the goal is to look natural, slightly flushed and in love!

A DAY IN TWO SALONS

Today I had the opportunity to spend the day in two different beauty salons and had a great experience in both. The first salon was my place of business and I was the stylist. With a lovely woman and friend as my client, I asked her what she wanted to do with her color.  She said “I don’t care Jules, whatever you want to do”.  We love these clients!  As her color was processing we caught each other up on what was going on in one another’s lives.  After her shampoo I was able to help her with a headache.  Now came her hair cut.  Her hair cut was very important and we concentrated on each section as there is a big event coming up!  Communication is very important between the stylist and client. Then we relaxed and I was able to use my own creativity to style her hair.  After applying the mousse I blow dried her hair and slightly began shaping the style using a round brush with nylon bristles.  Beginning at the top of her head I used a large barrel curling iron and clipped those curls in place so they would be out of the way as I curled the next section.  Afterwards I simply ran my comb and then fingers through her hair to tossle, back combed a little, used a little hair spray and Wahlah! Beautiful Hair for a Beautiful Woman! Friend, Visit, Creativity!

Afterwards I visited a salon so as to have my new growth restored to it’s natural color.  This time it was my turn to relax in the chair and let the professional stylist work on me.  Now believe me, it is very nerve-wracking for one stylist to work on another!  However, I am comfortable with mine so I put my trust in her.  (This is not easy for stylists to do)  As my color processed I sat in the chair and watched as others used their styling tools, such as blow dryers, shears, ceramic hair brushes, and styling products to create their works of art.  I was learning from other professionals (who were much younger than me).  I loved it!  Then I was the next to be pampered at the shampoo bowl!  AHHH the best part.  We went back to my stylist’s chair and it was her turn to work her magic on me!  With a few snips of the shears, the right products, a medium-sized ceramic round brush and a blow dryer, I had a new style! 

Standing behind the chair as a stylist or sitting in the chair as a client, each role lends an opportunity to bond with another human being, to learn and to create. 

IS THAT MY HAIR ON THE FLOOR????

     The answer to the question is yes…it probably is!  There are several causes to dry brittle hair.  They range from genetics and heredity to damage caused by chemical treatments, heat, and lack of moisture.

     Some of us are predisposed to dry brittle hair due to our gene make-up.   In this case, there is a weakness from the breakdown in the molecular structure of the hair follicule.  This can result in a lack of membrane fluid allowing for unwanted brittleness!

• Using a product containing protein such as Redken’s Extreme’s Anti-Snap treatment will fortify the hair and smoothe the cuticle reducing friction when styling which will help reduce breakage.

     We color and/or perm our hair and then style it using blow dryers, curling irons or hot curlers.  Heat and chemical treatments deplete hair of moisture and again the molecular bonds are depleted of moisture.

• Using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as Schwartzkopf BC Kick which contains hyaluranic acid to deliver mosture and elasticity to the hair without weighing it down  (Do I sound like a commercial?)

     You probably think you don’t need oil in your hair, right?  Well we do!  Oils are secreted from root pore and help to protect the hair’s structure.  Oils also protect internal functions.  If oil production is low, you may need to replenish that oil. 

• Aquage Sea Extend Silkening Oil Treatment is infused with sea botanicals,  light argan oil and sweet almond oil!

     Using hair care products to add moisture and protection to dry brittle hair will help keep your hair healthy and maintain control when styling!

TIP:  Be sure to use a shampoo that is SULFATE FREE!
